When The Night Is Yours And Yours Alone

When the night is yours and yours alone,

When the day is harsh and so is the dawn,

When there’s no love but Winter in your bed;

And warmth walks out with a silent tread.

When hope has been buried too long in the snow,

And you have not one Summer bud to show.

When the road has been both long and lone,

And it has darkened on your way to home.

Remember the night that has started once

Has by its start sealed its end, thence.

And the cold that reaches some bodily part,

Can't reach the fiery soul or the loving heart.

And if flowers don't bloom in your Summer any more

Have faith! They’re growing in the root's white core

And if you've been walking to a destination far

You might not have a home, but you'll always have a star.
